Rubicon Print

Along the Rubicon River on the North West Coast of Tasmania, there’s a section or river you drive over with masses of rice grass which has invaded the river. It does however leave amazing patterns where the water has weaved it’s way through the grass, and is extremely picturesque.

The saltmarsh wetlands contain salt-tolerant plants such as succulents, herbs, grasses and low shrubs. It also provide habitats for many animals including crabs, snails and insects living on the mudflats and wader birds feeding from this habitat.

This artwork depicts the river, rice grass, mud flats and crab markings.
